Welp, we’re officially in the moving in stage of house things! Crazy. Exciting. Overwhelming. We have a lot to move before the end of the week…but right now the Bachelorette, a growler of beer from Gonzo’s, and enchiladas take precedence. Priorities. 😉 I don’t foresee the rest of the week being quite so relaxing.
Today’s post is just going to be all in photographs – hope that’s alright 😛
Hehe – yay cards!
We have a Mezuzah (Jewish/Hebrew prayer) outside our new front door.
Baby shower gift. Might have just pretended I was gifting myself – luckily it went over well 🙂
We love our new house’s floors!
We didn’t get a “sale pending” or “sold” sign. I’m a little sad but that’s okay.
Such awesome woodwork
Kelly and I had fun with Snapchat filters at the pool on Saturday.
Super happy Monday! Now just wish us luck actually getting everything moved by Sunday o_O
This week has been dragging – presumably because there’s big things happening at the end of the week. I’m a ball of mixed emotions; excitement, nerves, sleepiness, and sneezes. But we’re in the home stretch in regards to the whole house-buying thing and it’s hump day – so woohoo! It’s only been 15 weeks…sigh. Our Disney trip (16 days to go!) is going to be such a welcome break from reality – I just wish it was longer than 2.5 days! Better than nothing though, that’s for sure.
Speaking of trips, I’ve been putting off getting my passport for months now. I should probably take care of that. Note to self.
In case you haven’t caught on, I looove love love basically everything Outside Magazine posts, and today is no exception. As someone who totally overshares on social media (hello, I have a blog for pete’s sake.) I’m always photographing what’s around me; I’m glad there’s an article to back me up now! Happy hump day!
Holy cannoli my allergies have been bad lately. I have an inconsolably itchy nose from the second I step out of the shower in the morning until about 10am when my Zyrtec kicks in. Anywho, it’s Monday, which means it’s time for happy things!
We saw Secret Life of Pets and Addams Family: The Musical over the weekend – and while I’d like to say we did a lot of cleaning and packing up the rest of the time…that wasn’t the case. One chill weekend before we’re going crazy with moving and such was needed.
I ordered a pair of Madewell jeans that I’ve had my eyes on for a while now — high-rise and super flared — for $31 shipped down from $140. They’ll go perfectly with my Birkenstock sandals and a book about a ‘Manson-esque’ cult/the end of the 60’s (The Girls). Fully embracing my inner hippie over here.
My wrist and hand are healing nicely after Friday’s frightening debacle, and Barb seems to be happy as a clam. Probably taking a day or two more off of climbing and Bent9 to let my cuts close up a bit more, but yay for no trips to the ER/vet.
Only 18 days til Disney! We’re both so excited to spend a weekend at the Happiest Place on Earth, especially after the craziness that has been our house-buying adventure. Not to mention that it means we’re coming up on our 1 year anniversary. What the what?!
It’s kind of close to August, which means I get to start using my new planner soon! Exciting stuff.
Arg, WordPress’ “readability analysis” drives me bonkers. Just because 31.6% of my sentences are more than 20 words and I’m not using any subheadings, it gives me a red dot needs improvement rating. Despite the fact that I’m at 80.8/100 in the Flesch Reading Ease test, and “47.6% of the sentences contain a transition or phrase, which is great.” It drives my inner word-nerd crazy that I don’t have a green dot. Oh well, what can ya do?
One of the specials Amazon had on Prime Day was a set of 3 calming cat collars, which I thought would perfect for our upcoming move. Something to keep Barb from stressing about being in a new house? Sign us up!
I decided to leave work early today to do some cleaning/packing, and figured it would be the perfect time to test out a collar to see how Barb would react. Welp, about 30 minutes and 3 totes full of shoes later, Barb was flopping around on the ground and making a noise I had never heard before. She may be a weirdo, but I knew that wasn’t a normal thing. The collar managed to get stuck between her jaw and the back of her neck, causing her to choke herself as she tried to ‘fix’ the situation. Not good.
Thankfully after lots panicked, scratch-filled wrestling to try and get a hand on the collar (without hurting Barb even more,) I managed to cut the collar off. Luckily Barb seems to have gotten out of the ordeal injury-free, but I wasn’t quite so lucky. Other than the bazillion scratches, I was shaking so badly – it was a scary situation!
After a fairly thorough check to be sure that Barb didn’t need to go directly to the Vet, I decided to go to Amazon to see if anyone else had similar issues. Sadly what I found was a slew of one-star reviews describing exactly what I had experienced, and in many cases much worse.
Needless to say – Barb will be getting lots of extra lovin’ this weekend, and I will absolutely be reading more than the first 3 Amazon reviews before buying anything else! While I wasn’t planning to spend the evening slathered in Neosporin, I’ll take this over the Vet any day. Plus I just discovered Ellen on our Apple TV which is awfully amusing. (Yes mom, you’re reading that correctly.)
Hopefully your Friday night is a bit calmer than mine has been so far, and happy weekend!
I was the first person over the first obstacle! And then we fell back a bit, BUT STILL!
Sunday brunch, complete with bottomless mimosas – of course.
Sheesh, a year ago today I was out with friends for some pre-bachelorette spa day drinks, and two years ago I was leaving the Netherlands after 3 weeks in Den Haag. Nothing nearly as exciting is going on this year, but I guess that’s alright; life has been rather eventful lately as a whole.
We officially have a close date for our new house! What the what!? So exciting; but all I can think about is how we’re going to move the glass part of our dining room table.
Joe and I successfully completed Saturday’s inflatable 5k, and we’ve got the medals to prove it! 😛 The obstacles made everything a bit more challenging, but it was super fun over all, even if it did mean waking up at 6:30am on my birthday 🙂
Speaking of my birthday; it was a great one! A few things I received: new Lilly shorts, 2 Anthro tops, a cool speaker, corn hole, and a baby quilt and crib sheet! (For a future child, don’t worry. Joe, me, and my mom decided we would all be sad if the quilt disappeared before it was baby time, so now it is in my possession!) …among other lovely things like a decorated desk at work, lots of cards, and lots of love! It doesn’t get better than that, and I’m super grateful to have so many people in my life that care about me 🙂
Catching Pokemon is actually pretty fun. I have yet to fully figure out everything that goes along with the new fad that is Pokemon Go, but it’s been intriguing enough to hold my interest for 4 whole days now, so that’s saying something!
Olympic trials have been on over the past few days, which makes me happy! I love pretty much everything related to the Olympics, so here’s hoping the antenna for our TV gets NBC at our new house – otherwise you bet there will be lots of live-streaming going on. (Well, let’s be real; that will probably be happening regardless.)
That is all! Short and sweet this week; nothing wrong with that.
What what, posting my Wanderlust Wednesday post actually on Wednesday?! And not at 11:59pm?! Miracles do happen.
If you’re curious about trip countdowns, we have 30 days until our Disney trip, and 176 until Morocco. I really need to renew my passport – but that needs to wait til we 100% for sure are have a new address! I have seen 3 or 4 people posting on Facebook that they’ve recently purchased a house – I really don’t feel like I’ve been upping the drama-fest that is our house buying saga, but everyone else seems to just be like “oh, yep we bought a house – that is a thing that happened, hooray!” Meanwhile we’re over here still waiting for an official close date. Ho hum, life goes on.
In other news, this app looks awesome. I can’t wait to take a trip and try it out! Happy Hump day!
Long weekends are the best…until you realize that you either a) have to miss the fireworks at the Yacht Club tonight or b) won’t get home until 1-1:30 am if you stay. Leaving before the fireworks would probably be the sensible thing to do, but we’ll have such a good view from the boat this year! Maybe being sleepy at work tomorrow isn’t the worst thing.
Anywho, it’s been an awesomely relaxing weekend – much needed if you ask me!
I got to go to Pure Barre on Saturday morning and I’m still sore. Every time I’m back, the idea of opening a PB franchise in Kalamazoo sounds better and better, until I realize that I probably don’t need *another* business-type venture on my plate. That reminds me though; this article from the WSJ was super interesting.
Joe and I get to run our inflatable 5k this Saturday! (and then rush back to Detroit for a wedding shower…and it’s also my bday woop woop!) Here’s hoping the fact that neither of us have run since 2012 doesn’t end up biting us in the butt.
I finished 2 books between Saturday and Sunday – a total of 624 pages read. Whew! I enjoyed both books quite a lot; Beer Money and No Baggage – both non-fiction, and on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, but both very good! Today will be spent reading celebrity gossip magazines though…or maybe a book about the Vanderbilt family; we shall see.
My sister is off exploring Scandinavia for the next 2 weeks, so I’ll be living vicariously through her pictures/Snapchat story. Her booking that trip is what convinced me and Joe to book our Morocco trip – yay for a family that likes to travel.
Thankful for a kitty that is relatively self-sufficient on weekends; we don’t come home to torn up furniture, poop in our shoes, or gifts of puke in undisclosed locations, and she’s happy as a clam when we come home. A very loud, constantly meowing clam, but a happy one nonetheless. I saw this video on Facebook earlier this week, and cannot get over the similarities to Barb – both in looks and personality – but we love her anyway 🙂
And now…off to the boat for the remainder of the day we go! Happy Fourth of July!
I know, I know – two days late. I promise I’ll get back on track with my Wanderlust Wednesday posts soon (no promises that it’ll be next week though.)
The following post is from Jennifer’s Hamam, a handmade textile shop located in the heart of Istanbul. We visited the shop during our trip, and I remember wanting to just curl up in all of the blankets and towels for…well, as long as Jennifer would let me! ;P Everything was so beautifully made and crazy soft, but a little out of my budget as a college student. If you’re looking for a unique gift (or want to treat yourself to one of the softest, coziest towels/blankets in the world) – I urge you to contact Jennifer and place an order.
On a happier note, it’s the weekend! And a long one at that – yay!
