Avoiding Sickness: 101 – The Homeopathic Way

Joe’s been sick since just after Christmas, and with me starting a new job on Tuesday (eeeep!) I’m pulling out all the stops to keep any impending passed on sickness at bay. Usually I just take Zicam, but decided to try some more homeopathic remedies this time around (…plus at least a Zicam a day, I just am bad at the whole “wait 15 minutes before eating or drinking” thing.)

Per a handful of recommendations, I ended up getting Echinacea tea, and Elderberry Syrup (in spray form) plus…well, whatever that “cold snap” box of pills is. It was cheap, and like I said, I’m pulling out all the stops! Hopefully they aren’t too big, since I’m not great at swallowing pills (I cut my allergy meds in half every day.)

We’ve both been taking it easy after our ‘up til 5:30am’ New Year’s Eve shenanigans (when I may have gotten a little bit drunk on champagne and played winter dress-up with Poppy) – binge watching Twilight Zone (per New Year’s Day tradition) and Baby Daddy, working on a puzzle, starting to take ornaments off the tree, and hopefully either a) fighting off a sickness or b) keeping it away!

Sorry, Poppy.
Sorry, Poppy.

Here’s hoping some of this homeopathic stuff works! Do you rely on some of the more natural ways of keeping your immune system strong? Or naturally curing a cold? I’m a huge Nyquil fan usually 😛

Review: derma e Hydrating Night Crème

Disclaimer: I was sent this product for review from derma e, with no compensation other than the product to try out. The following post consists of my honest thoughts & opinions about the product!IMG_3645

Like I mentioned in a previous post, thanks to various subscription/beauty boxes, I’ve tried my fair share of facial serums, peels, and creams – many of which don’t seem to be anything special other than maybe a brand name, or high price tag (sometimes a gem sneaks in though) – what can I say? I’m hard to please! (Actually that’s the overstatement of the century, I’m very easy to please, but hard to impress.)

Yay for keeping our faces moisturized!

With fall in full force (in combination with starting up hot yoga/barre classes, and spending time outside hiking and whatnot,) I’ve found my face feeling a bit drier, so when the opportunity to try/review an affordable, easily accessible night cream, I was excited to give it a go (and share with Joe, because everyone could use a little moisturization. Is that a word? It is now.)

I started using this cream the night I received it, and while I haven’t seen super drastic results, my skin definitely is starting to feel smoother and more hydrated. It is relatively thick, but doesn’t go on greasy, and doesn’t cause breakouts, which sometimes all a person can ask for out of what they’re putting on their faces! I also definitely appreciate the fact that the crème has hyaluronic acid in it – which I promise only sounds scary if you don’t know what it is. In layman’s terms…it helps keep your skin moisturized, which in turn helps slow down your skin’s aging process – and while I’m not seeing any signs of aging quite yet, I’d much rather stay ahead of the game.

  • Skin feeling moisturized
  • Good price point (About $25)
  • Easily accessible (find it at your local Walgreens!)
  • Anti-aging ingredients
  • All natural

  • A little thick for my personal preference – I prefer not feeling anything on my skin after applying, this crème you can feel a bit!
  • Nothing else!

Time to get into the nitty gritty (from Derma e’s website):
