Review: EverPro Back2Blonde + Giveaway!

Disclaimer: Back2Blonde sent me this product with no compensation other than the spray to test and review. This post consists of my honest thoughts & opinions about the product!

From lemon juice to Beach Blonde and Sun-In to getting my hair professionally highlighted, I’ve wanted to keep my hair a little blonder than its natural dirty blonde color for about as long as I can remember. (Except for that one year I decided to go with an auburn-y brown color. But that’s beside the point.) However…my hairstylist stopped working weekends shortly after I moved to the other side of the state, and the budget for highlights has been redistributed to health insurance, car payments, and little things like 200 pounds of mortar to tile a porch! Oh, adulthood.

Maybe someday I’ll find a salon here in Kalamazoo, but that day is not today! Or tomorrow, or probably the day after that. Plus I’m trying to grow my hair out again, so I don’t need to go in for a cut 🙂 Thankfully my hair does get a bit blonder in the summer, but that doesn’t keep my roots from coming in sort of dark.  Enter: Back2Blonde by EverPro.

The spray comes in 3 shades; Dark Blonde, Medium Blonde and Light Blonde

Despite accidentally turning my scalp yellow the first time using it, the aerosol root-touch up was super easy to use…and I figured out how to avoid the yellow scalp issue after a couple of uses. I wouldn’t say that Back2Blonde is a miracle-worker, but there definitely was a noticeable difference after application.

See?! Roots are still there, but look so much better! Maybe not quite as perfect as the models in the Back2Blonde how-to video, but that’s okay. I was sent the Medium color to try out, and I’d say it did a pretty good job. I’ve seen so many horror stories of root touch up products, so I was happy to see that the spray looked natural – especially since I was heading to work! 🙂

The only real downside to this product – other than a slight learning curve – is that it only lasts for one hair wash. Womp womp. It makes sense, since it isn’t a hair dye, but I’d appreciate a little more longevity! (And not have to worry about sweating it out/off during hot barre.)

The Verdict?

While I’m not one to worry about my roots showing, Back2Blonde does exactly what it should, and does it well! If you’re looking for a root concealer between hair appointments – I definitely think you’d be happy with this spray. Plus, $11 is much cheaper than an appointment at your salon 😉

Back2Blonde is hosting a giveaway – 25 people will win a full-size sample of the spray! Good luck!!

Happy Monday!

Gosh, I almost forgot to do this today – my brain has been in Cyber Monday mode (knocking out all the rest of my Christmas shopping, woohoo!) Can that be my #1 thing for my Happy Monday post?

      1. Other than general Christmas shopping, Mochi Things is having a 30% off sale. I’m not exactly at all sure how I discovered this website, but they have my absolute favorite pens in the entire world. Super fine point (.38) and cute patterns. I have 6 new ones headed my way – hooray!! Here are my favs: 1 2 3
      2. We picked up our Christmas cards this weekend!Screen Shot 2015-11-30 at 3.12.08 PM
I had them printed at the printer that did all of our invites/programs for our wedding – so much cheaper than going through Minted…and you get exactly what you want. Best of both worlds. Nothing against Minted though – that’s where my parents are getting their (equally as cute) cards printed.
      3. All of the snow in Kzoo melted! Hallelujah! We weren’t able to get all of our leaves up before we were dumped on with 8-10 inches of snow two weekends ago, so hopefully we can take care of that before we get more snow on Wednesday. Icky. Can it be next Thursday yet? I’m ready to go to Disney.
      4. Since the first Hunger Games movie came out, me and my friend Olivia have been seeing them together shortly after they come out, and Joe and I were able to stop on our way back to Kzoo last night to see the movie with her and her boyfriend! The movie was lovely, and I’m so glad we were able to see the entire series together! I’m a stickler for tradition.
      5. I’ve been getting lots of things to sample/review/write about lately from places like BzzAgent (Barber Chicken), Influenster (a humidifier), Crowdtap (Splenda, Robitussin, Cottonelle) and Brandbacker (face cream, eye gel, hair care, and natural snack sticks.) I kind of feel bad for the mail man/UPS man for having to deliver so many packages, but it’s pretty great, not gonna lie. Anyway, I have yet to get the snack sticks, but they’re holding a giveaway! Chomps Snack Sticks are based out of Chicago, and are made with 100% Non-GMO Grass-Fed Angus Beef, sourced from New Zealand. They contain no artificial ingredients (no nitrites, nitrates, MSG, colors, flavors) and are shelf stable for a year with the help of celery juice! If you enter, good luck! 🙂 I’ll be writing a review sometime in the next few weeks.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

happy monday!

Well. The Mac and Cheese Disaster of 2015 was not avoided. The crockpot basically turned the mac and cheese into a big vat of yellow play-doh, and I ended up waking Joe up at 2:45am…there was no way he was taking that blob of starch in to work. We ended up making 4 boxes of Kraft Mac and Cheese at 3am. It’s not going to win any awards, but at least his coworkers will be fed! Maybe we’ll try out the whole ‘crockpot mac and cheese’ thing again some day.

Kraft to the rescue!
Kraft to the rescue!

On to happy things!

  1. I just got back from Kalamazoo Barre, and although I’m a little underwhelmed (it was apparently a hard class…but was on the easier side for me) I’ll definitely be going back/making a habit of going! It’ll be nice to incorporate it back into my daily (?) routine…but I’m currently in the process of purchasing seat and ab intensive Pure Barre class DVDs from PBs website. I feel like my thighs got an excellent workout at Kalamazoo Barre, but abs and seat left something to be desired. Luckily our basement is barre-workout ready, and I can fill in the gaps on my own!
  2. So many things to review! If you know me, you know that there’s always been a pretty constant flow of free things being delivered. Welp, starting a blog has apparently doubled that (not sure if it’s just a coincidence or the two are correlated.) In the coming weeks I’ll be reviewing an eye cream and nighttime face moisturizer on my blog (thanks to BrandBacker) and from the variety of other sample/review sites I’m part of I’ll be getting (or have recently received): OB Tampons, GoodnessKnows snack squares, Seventh Generation laundry detergent, Robutussin, Vitafusion Womens gummies, Accuflora, TAZO chai tea, Pagoda snacks, annnnd Johnsonville Breakfast Sausage. Holy moley. Hooray for Crowdtap, Smiley360, and BzzAgent!
  3. Last week I was awarded two blogger awards that I need to follow up on – and might combine the two. They both include writing up some fun facts about myself. Luckily I’m full of those!
  4. I brought all of my fall-friendly boots to Kalamazoo! It was getting a little old wearing my knockoff Birkenstocks or Sperrys in the chilly weather. As sad as I am that summer is officially over, I do love my boots and scarves 🙂
  5. We are (hopefully) having a pumpkin carving party with some of Joe’s coworkers this weekend – we have a bit of cleaning to do to prepare for that, but it should be fun if all goes according to plan! We’re not quite sure if anyone is free, so it might end up being just the two of us. Regardless, yay pumpkin carving!
  6. Bonus entry! It looks like my website is officially moved over to being self-hosted (vs WordPress hosted.) I’m not exactly sure what that means for anyone following my blog, but it’s certainly exciting for me! 🙂

Happy Monday, y’all!
