16 days until we leave for our trip. Where did the time go?! Yesterday we received information about where we’ll be staying, so of course I almost immediately plugged it into a little 8 page booklet along with other important information. I swear, the only time my Type-A personality comes out is when I’m planning a trip. Could be worse, I suppose. Anyway. When I was figuring out as many details as possible, I came to the realization that we’re going to be spending a lot of time in vehicles, which means I need to stock up my Kindle! (And find it. But I’m sure it’s around somewhere.) I think I have a couple of unread books already on it, but I thought I’d share the 3 books I just purchased! (And a verrrry short synopsis.)
Lab Girl – “An illuminating debut memoir of a woman in science; a moving portrait of a longtime friendship; and a stunningly fresh look at plants that will forever change how you see the natural world.”
A Gentleman in Moscow – “He can’t leave his hotel. You won’t want to. From the New York Times bestselling author of Rules of Civility—a transporting novel about a man who is ordered to spend the rest of his life inside a luxury hotel.”
Sisters One, Two, Three – “After a tragic accident on Martha’s Vineyard, keeping secrets becomes a way of life for the Tangle family. With memories locked away, the sisters take divergent paths. Callie disappears, Mimi keeps so busy she has no time to think, and Ginger develops a lifelong aversion to risk that threatens the relationships she holds most dear.” (I got this one for free through Amazon Prime.)
The Magician’s Lie – “The Amazing Arden is the most famous female illusionist of her day, renowned for her notorious trick of sawing a man in half on stage. One night in Waterloo, Iowa, with young policeman Virgil Holt watching from the audience, she swaps her trademark saw for a fire ax. Is it a new version of the illusion, or an all-too-real murder? When Arden’s husband is found lifeless beneath the stage later that night, the answer seems clear.”
Yay! All that’s left is….actually packing. Why is it that that’s always the hardest part? Oh well. Happy hump day!
As much as I love warm weather, I also love cute socks and layers. That said – I’m so not ready to turn the heat on in our house! In other news, 92 days until Morocco. Maybe it’s time to start going through the ‘need to buy’ list I started making when we booked the trip. Pepto tablets and electrolyte tablets, I’m comin’ for ya!
Wanderlust Wednesday posts are alive and well, y’all! And only 113 days until Morocco! I have a feeling that trip will come up quicker than expected. I also learned the other day that flying scorpions are a thing in the Sahara Desert. But supposedly they don’t actually do anything with their stinging mechanism? Here’s hoping we don’t have a recreation of our rainforest bungalow bug experience…? AND hopefully I get my renewed passport back soon! (My mind has been so preoccupied that I sent it the first time without a check or signing the application. Oops.)
Also that quote is apparently from a Drake song. Don’t judge.
Good news! My head no longer hurts, which means I can go on Space Mountain on Saturday without fear of an aneurysm…or whatever the worst case scenario of a concussion would be. Hooray!
I’m actually not looking forward to seeing how busy the parks will be, but there’s rain in the forecast so maybe that will keep some of the crowds at bay. Maybe. (Who am I kidding, there’s always rain in the forecast in Florida.)
We should probably start packing. Putting things away can wait til next week, right? 🙂
This week has been dragging – presumably because there’s big things happening at the end of the week. I’m a ball of mixed emotions; excitement, nerves, sleepiness, and sneezes. But we’re in the home stretch in regards to the whole house-buying thing and it’s hump day – so woohoo! It’s only been 15 weeks…sigh. Our Disney trip (16 days to go!) is going to be such a welcome break from reality – I just wish it was longer than 2.5 days! Better than nothing though, that’s for sure.
Speaking of trips, I’ve been putting off getting my passport for months now. I should probably take care of that. Note to self.
In case you haven’t caught on, I looove love love basically everything Outside Magazine posts, and today is no exception. As someone who totally overshares on social media (hello, I have a blog for pete’s sake.) I’m always photographing what’s around me; I’m glad there’s an article to back me up now! Happy hump day!
What what, posting my Wanderlust Wednesday post actually on Wednesday?! And not at 11:59pm?! Miracles do happen.
If you’re curious about trip countdowns, we have 30 days until our Disney trip, and 176 until Morocco. I really need to renew my passport – but that needs to wait til we 100% for sure are have a new address! I have seen 3 or 4 people posting on Facebook that they’ve recently purchased a house – I really don’t feel like I’ve been upping the drama-fest that is our house buying saga, but everyone else seems to just be like “oh, yep we bought a house – that is a thing that happened, hooray!” Meanwhile we’re over here still waiting for an official close date. Ho hum, life goes on.
In other news, this app looks awesome. I can’t wait to take a trip and try it out! Happy Hump day!
I know, I know – two days late. I promise I’ll get back on track with my Wanderlust Wednesday posts soon (no promises that it’ll be next week though.)
The following post is from Jennifer’s Hamam, a handmade textile shop located in the heart of Istanbul. We visited the shop during our trip, and I remember wanting to just curl up in all of the blankets and towels for…well, as long as Jennifer would let me! ;P Everything was so beautifully made and crazy soft, but a little out of my budget as a college student. If you’re looking for a unique gift (or want to treat yourself to one of the softest, coziest towels/blankets in the world) – I urge you to contact Jennifer and place an order.
On a happier note, it’s the weekend! And a long one at that – yay!
