Wanderlust Wednesday – 12/14

morrocan proverb

16 days until we leave for our trip. Where did the time go?! Yesterday we received information about where we’ll be staying, so of course I almost immediately plugged it into a little 8 page booklet along with other important information. I swear, the only time my Type-A personality comes out is when I’m planning a trip. Could be worse, I suppose. Anyway. When I was figuring out as many details as possible, I came to the realization that we’re going to be spending a lot of time in vehicles, which means I need to stock up my Kindle! (And find it. But I’m sure it’s around somewhere.) I think I have a couple of unread books already on it, but I thought I’d share the 3 books I just purchased! (And a verrrry short synopsis.)

Lab Girl cover photo Hope Jahren

  1. Lab Girl – “An illuminating debut memoir of a woman in science; a moving portrait of a longtime friendship; and a stunningly fresh look at plants that will forever change how you see the natural world.”A gentleman in moscow book cover amor towles
  2. A Gentleman in Moscow – “He can’t leave his hotel. You won’t want to. From the New York Times bestselling author of Rules of Civility—a transporting novel about a man who is ordered to spend the rest of his life inside a luxury hotel.”sisters one, two, three nancy star cover art
  3. Sisters One, Two, Three – “After a tragic accident on Martha’s Vineyard, keeping secrets becomes a way of life for the Tangle family. With memories locked away, the sisters take divergent paths. Callie disappears, Mimi keeps so busy she has no time to think, and Ginger develops a lifelong aversion to risk that threatens the relationships she holds most dear.” (I got this one for free through Amazon Prime.)the magician's lie cover art greer macallister
  4. The Magician’s Lie – “The Amazing Arden is the most famous female illusionist of her day, renowned for her notorious trick of sawing a man in half on stage. One night in Waterloo, Iowa, with young policeman Virgil Holt watching from the audience, she swaps her trademark saw for a fire ax. Is it a new version of the illusion, or an all-too-real murder? When Arden’s husband is found lifeless beneath the stage later that night, the answer seems clear.”

Yay! All that’s left is….actually packing. Why is it that that’s always the hardest part? Oh well. Happy hump day!

A change! Like Fall! Eh? Maybe that’s a stretch 😛

As much as I love warm weather, I also love cute socks and layers. That said – I’m so not ready to turn the heat on in our house! In other news, 92 days until Morocco. Maybe it’s time to start going through the ‘need to buy’ list I started making when we booked the trip. Pepto tablets and electrolyte tablets, I’m comin’ for ya!

Happy hump day 🙂

Wanderlust Wednesday – 7/20

Nicaragua

This week has been dragging – presumably because there’s big things happening at the end of the week. I’m a ball of mixed emotions; excitement, nerves, sleepiness, and sneezes. But we’re in the home stretch in regards to the whole house-buying thing and it’s hump day – so woohoo! It’s only been 15 weeks…sigh. Our Disney trip (16 days to go!) is going to be such a welcome break from reality – I just wish it was longer than 2.5 days! Better than nothing though, that’s for sure.

Speaking of trips, I’ve been putting off getting my passport for months now. I should probably take care of that. Note to self.

In case you haven’t caught on, I looove love love basically everything Outside Magazine posts, and today is no exception. As someone who totally overshares on social media (hello, I have a blog for pete’s sake.) I’m always photographing what’s around me; I’m glad there’s an article to back me up now! IMG_1936Happy hump day!Signature

Maybe some day we’ll be able to get Barb to come on an adventure without wanting to run off and explore on her own 😉

Wanderlust Wednesday – 7/6

Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town, South Africa

What what, posting my Wanderlust Wednesday post actually on Wednesday?! And not at 11:59pm?! Miracles do happen.

If you’re curious about trip countdowns, we have 30 days until our Disney trip, and 176 until Morocco. I really need to renew my passport – but that needs to wait til we 100% for sure are have a new address! I have seen 3 or 4 people posting on Facebook that they’ve recently purchased a house – I really don’t feel like I’ve been upping the drama-fest that is our house buying saga, but everyone else seems to just be like “oh, yep we bought a house – that is a thing that happened, hooray!” Meanwhile we’re over here still waiting for an official close date. Ho hum, life goes on.

In other news, this app looks awesome. I can’t wait to take a trip and try it out! Happy Hump day!

Wanderlust Friday – 7/1

Istanbul, Turkey
Istanbul, Turkey

I know, I know – two days late. I promise I’ll get back on track with my Wanderlust Wednesday posts soon (no promises that it’ll be next week though.)

The following post is from Jennifer’s Hamam, a handmade textile shop located in the heart of Istanbul. We visited the shop during our trip, and I remember wanting to just curl up in all of the blankets and towels for…well, as long as Jennifer would let me! ;P Everything was so beautifully made and crazy soft, but a little out of my budget as a college student. If you’re looking for a unique gift (or want to treat yourself to one of the softest, coziest towels/blankets in the world) – I urge you to contact Jennifer and place an order.

But I mean really - look how cozy.

On a happier note, it’s the weekend! And a long one at that – yay!

Wanderlust…Thursday? 6/16

walt disney quote - begin doing

Oof. Day late – my bad. Life is crazy. Tuesday we learned that the owners of the house we’re renting officially will be selling the house we’re renting this summer. Cool, timing is working out so that’s good, right?

Not quite. Apparently we have to have the house ready to be listed by tomorrow, and ready for showings and an open house next week. While we are far from living in squalor/a dump, we certainly aren’t the most organized people in the world, so 2 days of notice is not enough time….except it has to be enough time. Merp. So needless to say, we’ve been de-cluttering, organizing, and cleaning until the wee hours of the morning, foregoing climbing, flex, and really any downtime this week just to appease our landlady.

Wouldn’t it have made more sense for them to wait a month for us to be out? The housing market is crazy right now – a month wouldn’t have changed a thing. Sigh. Pardon my rant.

Anyway, picture from Disney this week; thoughts and prayers are with the people of Orlando, and the family that lost their son in the lagoon outside of the Grand Floridian. Bad week for Florida. On an upside? Shanghai Disney is officially open!

Wanderlust Wednesday – 6/8

Wanderlust Wednesday - Marcel Proust
I don’t remember where I took this. Maybe outside of Washington DC?

Time is flying. I feel like I just posted last week’s Wanderlust Wednesday post, but here I am, at it again! There is too much going on in my brain right now between 1) house buying (inspection set up for Monday!) 2) making sure we can get a mortgage by our close date 3) buying a new car 4) learning that I can’t get added onto Joe’s insurance 5) hoping my contract gets extended 6) trying to get 2 fairly large work projects out on time….I can keep going if you’re not feeling a sense of overwhelmed-ness yet. Yay adulthood?

58 days til Disney, and 204 til Morocco!
